Etymology: Either < witch v.1 + -ed suffix1, or aphetic < bewitched adj. N.E.D. (1928) gives the pronunciation as (witʃt, poet. wi·tʃėd) /wɪtʃt/, poet. /ˈwɪtʃɪd/.
Enchanted, possessed, or otherwise affected by magic, sorcery, or witchcraft; under a magic spell; = bewitched adj. 1.
