Increasing function

a function whose value increases when that of the variable increases, and decreases when the latter is diminished; also called a monotonically increasing function.

increasing function

[in′krēs·iŋ ‚fəŋk·shən] (mathematics) A function, ƒ, of a real variable, x, whose value gets larger as x gets larger; that is, if x <>y, then ƒ(x) <>y). Also known as strictly increasing function.
