Bratukhin, Ivan Pavlovich

 

Born Feb. 12(25), 1903, in the village of Iashchera, now Suna Raion, Kirov Oblast. Soviet designer and scientist in the field of helicopter construction. Professor (1954); doctor of technology (1962). Honored Scientist and Engineer of the RSFSR (1964). Member of the CPSU since 1920.

Bratukhin graduated from the Bauman Moscow Technical School in 1930. His principal works deal with the design and construction of helicopters. He has created a number of helicopter designs and a new type of airplane-helicopter (1946). He won the State Prize of the USSR in 1946. Bratukhin has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and medals.
