Lomami

a river in Central Africa, in Zaire; left tributary of the Congo (Zaire) River. It is approximately 1,500 km long and has a basin area of 110,000 sq km. It originates in the Katanga Plateau and flows northward, cutting deeply into sandy tablelands and forming numerous waterfalls and rapids. Waters rise from September until the end of April during the rainy season. It is navigable for 330 km from its mouth.
