Leningrad Technological Institute of the Refrigeration Industry

 

an institute founded in 1931.

The prominent scientists who have worked at the Leningrad Technological Institute of the Refrigeration Industry include A. A. Satkevich, M. I. Goriaev, V. I. Glagolev, and K. I. Strakhovich. As of 1973, the institute had departments of refrigeration, mechanics, and engineering. It has evening, correspondence, and advanced training departments, a preparatory division, and a graduate program. In 1973 there were 29 subdepartments, four sectorial laboratories, and a library with holdings of more than 400,000 volumes.

During the 1972–73 academic year there were 5,500 students studying at the institute. There were about 350 teachers, including 32 professors and doctors of science and 170 docents and candidates of science. The institute has the right to hear candidates’ and doctors’ dissertations for defense. It has published Trudy (Transactions) since 1936. The Leningrad Technological Institute of the Refrigeration Industry trained more than 13,500 engineers between 1931 and 1973.
