lattice-gauge theory lattice-gauge theory[′lad·əs ‚gāj ‚thē·ə·rē] (particle physics) A formulation of the theory of hadron structure in which the continuum of space-time is replaced by a discrete set of points or sites, and quarks move through this structure by sequential hops between neighboring sites, interacting with gauge gluons which are represented by fields located on bonds connecting the lattice sites. Also known as lattice field theory. |
