(ab-dom'i-năl kwahd'rănt) Any of the four segments into which the abdomen is divided by vertical and horizontal partitioning through the midpoint.

abdominal quadrant

Any one of the four areas on the front of the abdomen formed by two imaginary lines, one vertical and one horizontal intersecting at the navel. They four quadrants are called upper and lower right and upper and lower left, as seen from the patient's point of view.
