Axel Thue


Thue, Axel

 

Born Feb. 19, 1863, in Tönsberg; died Mar. 7, 1922, in Christiania (now Oslo). Norwegian mathematician.

Thue studied in Christiania, Leipzig, and Berlin. In 1903 he became a professor of mathematics at the University of Christiania. His principal works deal with number theory, in particular, the theory of Diophantine equations.
