a genus of fossorial wasps of the family Sphegidae.

The female burrows in the sand and deposits an egg there. The larva emerges from the egg and grows, feeding on paralyzed fly larvae prepared by the female. In the majority of Bembex the female paralyzes prey with her stinger. Some members of Bembex renew their store of food from time to time.
