status bar n (Computer Science) a narrow horizontal area at the foot of a computer screen or window in which details are displayed about the program that is running or the document that is being edited status bar
status barA horizontal line of information displayed at the bottom or top of an application window. It reports information about the current state of the program or the data contents in the window. For example, the status bar in an Explorer window shows how many files a folder contains and how much disk space they take up.
