Salmysh

 

a river in Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Sakmara River of the Ural River basin. The Salmysh measures 193 km long and drains an area of 7,340 sq km. The river is fed primarily by snow. Its high-water period lasts from late March to early May. The mean flow rate measured 79 km from the mouth is 10.4 cu m per sec. The Salmysh freezes in November. The ice breaks up in April.
