Fire Pump, Motor-Operated

a portable apparatus designed to pump water from water sources through pressure fire hoses to the site of a fire. It consists of a centrifugal pump, a suction apparatus, and an internal-combustion engine, all mounted on one bedplate; the suction apparatus is used initially to fill the suction line and pump with water. In the USSR in 1975, portable motor-operated fire pumps could deliver 600 and 800 liters per min, and pumps mounted on single-axle trailers could deliver 1,600 liters per min.
