Employment Act 1988 Employment Act 1988 a UK statute establishing legal rights of TRADE UNION members in relation to their unions. Under the Act, union members have the right to prevent their union from authorizing a STRIKE when a secret ballot has not been held and not to be disciplined by their union for not participating in such action.
