anything, as a rod of iron or a pipe, curved like the neck of a goose; specially (Naut.), an iron hook connecting a spar with a mast.

1. Any section of pipe, curved like the neck of a goose, or in a U-shape; sometimes flexible. 2. In ductwork, an inverted U-shaped duct section with a screened opening; used for air intake or exhaust. 3. A curved section of a handrail which forms its termination at the top of a newel post.
