▪ I. farl, n. Sc.|fɑːl| Also 8 farle, 9 farrel. [Contraction for fardel n.2] Originally, the fourth part of a thin cake made either of flour or oatmeal; now applied to a cake of similar kind and size, whether quadrant-shaped or not.
