‖ gagaku|ˈgagakuː| [Jap., f. ga authentic, graceful, noble + gaku music.] A type of Japanese instrumental music performed chiefly on ceremonial occasions at the Imperial court and closely resembling the secular music of ancient China during the Tang period.
