garburator, n. Chiefly Canad. Brit. |ˈgɑːb(j)əreɪtə|, U.S. |ˈgɑrb(j)əˌreɪdər|, Canad. |ˈgɑrb(j)əˌreidər| Forms: 19– garbarator, 19– garberator, 19– garburator; Also with capital initial. [‹ garb- (in garbage n.) + -erator (in incinerator n.); in the form garburator perhaps after carburettor n.] A type of waste-disposal unit installed beneath a sink, designed to shred or grind waste into small pieces which can pass through household plumbing. The form Garberator is a proprietary name in Canada.
