glucosidase, n. Biochem.|gl(j)uːˈkɒsɪdeɪz, ˌgl(j)uːkəˈsaɪdeɪz| [a. F. glucosidase (H. Bierry 1909, in Compt. Rend. CXLIX. 315): see glucoside n., -ase.] Any enzyme that hydrolyses a glucoside, thereby producing glucose; freq. with preceding Gr. letter, as α-glucosidase (= maltase n.), β-glucosidase (= emulsin n.).
