† intercuˈtaneous, a. Obs. [f. late L. intercutāne-us (see prec. and cutaneous) + -ous. Cf. F. intercutané (Littré).] Situated between the skin and flesh; subcutaneous. Also, lying between the bark and stem of a tree.
