isocentre|ˈaɪsəʊsɛntə(r)| Also (U.S.) -center. [f. iso- + centre n.] In aerial photography, the point at which the bisector of the angle between the optical axis of the camera and the vertical at the inner nodal point of the lens meets the plane of the camera plate or film (or the corresponding object point where the bisector meets the ground).
1931C. M. Hotine Surveying from Air Photogr. v. 63 We may, therefore, consider the plate isocentre as the centre of tilt distortions, in that images are displaced radially from the isocentre from the positions they would occupy if the photograph had not been tilted. 1950L. G. Trorey Handbk. Aerial Mapping i. 3 Any photograph is angle true with respect to the isocentre for all points in the plane of the isocentre. 1970J. A. Howard Aerial Photo-Ecology ix. 102 The isocentre and nadir are very important due to their relation to tilt and radial displacement. |
