pterodactyloid, a. and n. Palæont.|tɛrəʊˈdæktɪlɔɪd| [f. pterodactyl n. + -oid.] A. adj. Having the form or character of a pterodactyl; spec. belonging to the extinct suborder Pterodactyloidea of pterosaurs of the late Jurassic and Cretaceous, characterized by a long neck and a small or vestigial tail. B. n. A pterodactyloid pterosaur.
