† petypernaunt, petyperny Obs. Usually in pl. Forms (pl.): 5 pety (peti) perna(u)ntes, perneis, perneux, perneys, pernollys, pernys. [Derivation of second element uncertain: perh. pernant = prenant, pr. pple. of prendre to take.] A kind of pastry, app. akin to pain puff (pain n.2). The n has often been printed as u (v) by editors, etc.
