[Possibly a variant of damage; OF. had damachier beside damagier. But cf. Ger. dämisch stupid.]
†1. trans. To stun, stupefy. Obs.
a1598Rollock On the Passion (1616) 38 (Jam.) As a man who falls downe from an high place..lyes without sense, and is dammished with the fall. 1722Wodrow Hist. Suff. Ch. Scot. II. 25 He was perfectly dammished with the stroke.
2. To bruise the surface of (an apple or similar fruit) by a knock.
