Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: a- prefix3, English tittup.
Etymology: Apparently < a- prefix3 + tittup, imitative of the sound of a horse's hooves while cantering. Compare later tittup n., tittup v.
Obsolete.
At a canter, or with a similar jolting manner of movement. Usually reduplicated.
