Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French Chambertin.
Etymology: < French Chambertin (1769; also with lower-case initial) < the name of the village of Chambertin, part of the municipality of Gevrey-Chambertin, in the department of Côte-d'Or in the Burgundy region of eastern France, where the wine is made.
A red burgundy wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in vineyards located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin.
