Waagen in Palæontologica Indica 13th Ser. 4 ii. 241 The term ‘carboniferous’ cannot here be used again, as with this the old confusion would again be sanctioned; and yet the most characteristic feature of the two systems is the frequent occurrence of coal-seams. Thus, I venture to propose for the whole, for the Carboniferous and Permian systems together, the name of ‘Anthracolithic Epoch’.

1935 Jrnl. Paleontol. 9 30/2 A number of other species of Waagenophyllum have been described from the Anthracolithic limestones of Asia.

1966 Trans. Royal Soc. N.Z. 4 229 Strophalosia plicosa Waagen (1884) is tentatively referred to the same genus, and two new species erected..from the Anthracolithic of the Shan States.

1976 Paleontol. Soc. Mem. No. 9. 38/2 His opinion that the Anthracolithic fauna of Burma is correlative to the Wargal and Chhidru formations rather than the Amb.
