Etymology: < Portuguese copra (and Spanish copra) (in Garcia 1563, Acosta 1578), apparently < Malayalam koppara, in Hindi khoprā coco-nut. Now naturalized in some isles of Polynesia.
The dried kernel of the coco-nut, prepared and exported for the expression of coco-nut oil.
