Etymology: < scientific Latin dichlamydeae (1829 or earlier; < ancient Greek δι- di- comb. form + χλαμυδ- , χλαμύς cloak (see chlamys n.) + scientific Latin -eae : see -eous suffix) + -ous suffix.With the forms compare -eous suffix.
Botany.
Of a flower: having both a calyx and a corolla, or having a double perianth. Also: a plant bearing such flowers. Cf. monochlamydeous adj.
