Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish amorado.
Etymology: Apparently < Spanish amorado (adjective) in love (1528; earlier in the sense ‘of or relating to love’: (1494); < amor love (see Amor n.) + -ado -ado suffix), probably by association or confusion with enamorado male lover (see enamorado n.). Compare earlier inamorato n. and also enamorado n. Compare also amoroso n.1
