Etymology: < fellow n. + citizen n., after Middle French concitoyen (13th cent. in Old French as concitien ; French concitoyen ), post-classical Latin concivis (early 3rd cent.), and ancient Greek συμπολῖτης (see sympolity n. at sym- prefix ).
A citizen of the same city, state, or other polity as another specified person; (in plural) citizens of the same city, state, or other polity.
