Etymology: < classical Latin abhorrēre abhor v. + -ible suffix, after horrible adj. Compare post-classical Latin abhorribilis (1618 or earlier), and earlier abhorrable adj.
That excites hatred, loathing, or disgust; detestable, abominable.
