Etymology: Probably < Kannada maṅga monkey. Compare Malayalam moṅṅa monkey. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mɒ·ngă) /ˈmʌŋɡə/.
Obsolete.
The bonnet macaque, Macaca radiata, a monkey of southern India with a bonnet-like tuft of hair on its head.
