Schiaparelli Intorno al corso ed all'origine probabile delle stelle meteoriche (1866) 31/2); compare classical Latin Persēid-, Persēis of or belonging to the constellation Perseus, ancient Greek Περσηιδ-, Περσηίς (feminine) sprung from Perseus. Compare French Perséides, plural (1875).
