Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin praegustātor.
Etymology: < classical Latin praegustātor < praegustāt- , past participial stem of praegustāre pregust v. + -or -or suffix. Compare French prégustateur (1869 in Littré). With sense 2 compare pregustic n. and the French parallel cited at that entry.
rare (chiefly historical).
1. A foretaste. Obsolete.Apparently an isolated use.
