Etymology: < post-classical Latin procision-, procisio act of cutting short (12th cent.) < procis- , past participial stem of procidere to cut short in front (9th cent.; only recorded in past participle procisus ; < classical Latin prō- pro- prefix1 + caedēre to cut down: see caesura n.) + -iō -ion suffix1.
Obsolete. rare.
An instance of shortening something (in quot., the foreskin) by removing the foremost part.
