1922 Monthly Notices Royal Astron. Soc. 82 536 Each cycle begins with an activity in high latitude; each cycle ends with the last remnants of activity transferred to a low one. This is what is known as ‘Spoerer's Law of Zones’.

1976 J. A. Eddy in Science 18 June 1196/1 The earlier minimum, which we might call the Spörer Minimum, persisted by our 10-parts-per-mil criterion from about 1460 through 1550... We can presume that the Spörer Minimum was probably as pronounced as the Maunder Minimum and that during those years there were few sunspots indeed.
