单词 boofhead
释义

boofheadn.

Brit. /ˈbʊfhɛd/, U.S. /ˈbʊfˌ(h)ɛd/, Australian English /ˈbʊfhed/
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps formed within English, by compounding. Or perhaps a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: English boof , head n.1; bufflehead n.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps (i) < English regional (Lincolnshire) boof (19th cent.) or Scots (north-eastern) bouff (19th cent.) stupid or clumsy person (of uncertain origin: perhaps expressive) + head n.1 (compare also English regional (Lincolnshire) boof (adjective) stupid (20th cent.)), or perhaps (ii) an alteration of bufflehead n., although this appears to have been very rare in Australian English.
Australian slang.
A foolish or stupid person; spec. a person (esp. a man) who has a large or muscular physique but who is unintelligent or uncouth. Cf. meathead n.
