Etymology: Probably partly (i) < early Scandinavian (compare Old Icelandic þráliga obstinately, frequently < þrár , þrá obstinate, stubborn (see thro adj.1) + -liga , suffix forming adverbs: see -ly suffix2), and partly (ii) < thro adj.1 + -ly suffix2. Compare thro adv.
