A compound containing the residues of three amino-acids united by the joining of NH in one residue to CO in another; e.g. alanyl-glycyl-glycine, NH2.CH(CH3).CO−NH.CH2.CO−NH.CH2.CO.OH, is a tripeptide formed from alanine, NH2.CH(CH3).COOH, and two glycine molecules, NH2.CH2.CO.OH.
