Etymology: < German Buba (1973 or earlier), shortened < Bundesbank (in Deutsche Bundesbank (1957), the name of the central bank of Germany) < Bundes- , combining form of Bund federation, also specifically the Federal Republic of Germany (see Bund n.2) + Bank bank n.3In form BUBA apparently reinterpreted as an acronym.
