(par'ă-rā'mă), Painful or crippling disease of the fingers, first described in Brazilian natural latex gatherers, produced by accidental contact with setae of the larva of the moth, Premolis semirufa; immediate pruritus, hyperemia, and local edema may be followed by chronic swelling and immobility that may lead to loss of one or more fingers, presenting a clinical picture corresponding to ankylosis.
