Self-Propelled Chassis

a self-moving vehicle for the attachment of mounted equipment used in agriculture. Self-propelled chassis are design variants of agricultural tractors; they differ from tractors in that the engine and transmission are often located in rear, while the front is made in the form of an open single- or twin-beam frame for attaching mounted machines and implements. In rear-engine models, the basic load-carrying part is the housing of the axle drive, which is rigidly connected to the rear beam of the frame. The crossbeam of the front suspension is of the telescoping rocker type and is joined by a hinge to the front beam of the frame. The telescoping device of the beam and the shifting of the disks of the rear wheels make it possible to adjust the track of the front and rear wheels. The power unit of a self-propelled chassis is usually a diesel engine. The mounted implements are controlled by a hydraulic system.
