Cladosporioses

plant diseases caused by imperfect fungi of the genus Cladosporium. The leaves, and sometimes the fruit, of diseased plants become covered with light gray velvety spots that later darken. In the USSR the most harmful cladosporioses are tomato-leaf mold (C. fulvum), which develops in hothouses, and cucumber scab, affecting the fruit and leaves of cucumbers (C. cucumerinum). Cucumber scab is especially harmful when the fruit is infected, since it often will not mature and will become malformed. Control measures include seed disinfection, changing hothouse soil or treating it by heat, the destruction of infected material, spraying hothouses and plants with fungicides, and agrotechnical measures.
