Etymology: < over- prefix + loup n.1 Compare overleap n.Compare the Scots parallel formation overlope in sense 1 (one isolated attestation in form ourlop ; < over- prefix + lope n.):1776 D. Dalrymple Ann. Scotl. I. 319 In Scotland, an occasional trespass of cattle on a neighbouring pasture is still termed ourlop.
Scottish and English regional (northern). Now rare.
