(a) British an order from a magistrate rescinding a person's right to legal residence, and hence relief from the poor rates, in a particular parish; = order of removal at sense 5 (now historical); (b) gen. an official order (esp. from the courts) requiring a person to leave his or her position, an area or country, etc.
