ΚΠ 1845 Mining Jrnl. 22 Nov. 660/2 Rullers, the persons who work the wheelbarrows underground. 1898 J. H. Pearce Ezekiel's Sin xvii. 112 The word is primarily a miner's term—the lads in the mines who wheel the barrows being spoken of as ‘rullers’—and the form of punishment it indicates, when used for this purpose, is more particularly indulged in among the mining communities.
