Etymology: < anti- prefix + acrid adj., probably after post-classical Latin antacria, plural noun (1734 or earlier; compare antacrida, which is apparently later: 1802 or earlier in an English context). N.E.D. (1885) gives the pronunciation as (æntˌæ·krid) /æntˈækrɪd/.
Medicine. Obsolete.

Of a medicinal agent or treatment: having the property of counteracting (supposed) acridity of body fluids, secretions, or tissues. Also: designating this property.
