Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: well adv., faring adj.
Etymology: < well adv. + faring adj.With sense 1 compare well-farrand at farrand adj. 3. With sense 3 compare welfare n., association with which is shown by later instances of the spelling welfaring.
Now rare.
1. Good-looking, handsome, fair; attractive, shapely. Also: robust, healthy. Obsolete (chiefly regional in later use).
